The Powerful Means Initiative (PMI) was developed to honor Father Sorin's vision that, "This college will be one of the most powerful means of doing good in this country." The Mendoza College of Business is committed to honoring this vision.
PMI develops empathic, innovative, and purpose-driven leaders who use business as a force for good. Operating as an integrated ecosystem, PMI brings together academic and co-curricular pathways to channel student talent, innovation, and resources toward local and global collaborations. Across this ecosystem, three complementary methodologies—Design Thinking, Impact Consulting, and Impact Investing—provide a pathway from idea to investment to implementation, enabling students to engage at different stages while building skills in empathy, innovation, strategy, and execution.
At its core, PMI challenges students to consider not only what they can accomplish, but what their talents are for. Grounded in empathy and collaboration, the initiative empowers students to design and implement solutions to the world's most pressing problems.
